At SparkCraftLLC, we specialize in consumer electronics consultancy, guiding businesses in defining market strategies for their products. We combine gameplay development, scripting, flowcharts, brainstorming, and hardware architecture solutions to ensure impactful product design and cost efficiency.  With nearly 20 years' experience in electronic product development.

About Me

My name is Shaun Cormier, during my nearly 20 years career in Consumer Electronic Product Development, I've helped develop 100's of products that have made kids smile and play!  During my time at Hasbro, I've worked on nearly all of their brands, leading the electronic development for some of the most innovative toys.  From Preschool brands like Playskool and Baby Alive to Girls Brands like Disney Princess & Frozen and My Little Pony, to Boys Brands like Transformers and Star Wars, to finally Older audiences with Magic the Gathering and HasLab products.  Working on all these brands have given me the experience to understand all different type of consumers.

People always ask what are my favorite toys that I've ever worked on, there are at least 5 that always come to mind, in no particular order; Baby Alive Super Snackin' Sarah, Disney Princess Dance Code Belle, Star Wars Chatter Back Chopper, Furby (2023), and DJ Furby.

On a personal side, I have a wonderful wife, Tricia, who's been my guide through starting this adventure.  We have the fanciest 5-year-old, Amelya, who can't go anywhere without a dress!  Little known fact about me is that wherever you travel, there is a strong likelihood I know a good brewery near there and probably have been to!  As I've been to close to 1000 breweries worldwide.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Direct multidisciplinary design teams (Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware) through all product development stages, from requirements definition and architecture through DVT and market readiness.

  • Program Management: Establish project roadmaps, lead risk reviews, and ensure alignment of schedule, cost, and quality targets with client objectives and global value engineering standards.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as primary liaison between technical teams and customer stakeholders, translating engineering outputs into actionable business metrics and measurable ROI.

Sr. Electrical Engineer

Spark R&D

  • Product Lifecycle Management: Managed the schedule, product & development costs, and system architecture of high-complexity projects featuring multi-32-bit & 8-bit Microcontrollers, Bluetooth, accelerometers, IR, RF, motors, optical encoders, LiPo rechargeable systems, with diverse input/output components.

  • Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Led the Spark R&D Electrical Engineering team in defining innovation roadmap, evaluating new technologies, and distributing work while serving as the primary liaison with QA, Marketing, Design, and other key departments leads.

  • Technology Integration & Process Optimization: Championed the adoption of emerging technologies across brands, developed new engineering processes, and aligned technical advancements with customer-centric product goals.

  • Vendor Management & Supply Chain Resilience: Partnered with IC vendors and international collaborators to mitigate supply chain disruptions, ensuring the availability of critical components and timely product delivery during global shortages.

2014 - 2019

Electrical Engineer

Girls Development

  • Full-Electronics Product Development: Led electronic development for the Disney Princess, Frozen, and DreamWorks Trolls product lines, developing production code and troubleshooting across firmware and hardware components.

  • Process Improvement & Customer Insight: Designed processes for licensed products, integrating customer feedback into product revisions and facilitating cross-departmental approvals with Disney and DreamWorks partners.

  • Mentorship & Team Development: Supervised and mentored Electrical Engineer co-ops, providing guidance in technical skill-building and professional growth.

2012 - 2014

Associate Electrical Engineer

Embedded Technology

  • Hardware & Firmware Development: Oversaw electronics development for major Hasbro brands, including Baby Alive and Transformers, from ideation and prototyping through to production and market launch.

  • Schematic Design & Cost Optimization: Developed schematics, BOMs, and cost-effective design solutions, contributing to reliable and scalable designs that met budgetary and manufacturability targets.

  • Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration: Worked closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Marketing, and Finance teams, ensuring aligned objectives and on-schedule, cost-effective project completion.
